Here are a few examples of some of our previous commission work!
Our Commission Process:
For commissions, we usually start off by asking a few questions about what you are looking for. There'll be a place to fill out a personal questionnaire in the checkout section. Some people have a very specific idea in mind for the commission they want, while others may only have a general idea and we want to be sure we’re hitting all the key points. We like to know the theme or feel of the piece before we get started. Is this a soft and somber memorial piece for a loved one, or is this a bold and vibrant character who slays dragons?
For our character artist, we need to know what kind of expressions and poses are appropriate, or if there are specific items of clothing or styles of hair that you want to be sure are incorporated. And for the background artist, we need to know about other interests and things that are important to the overall feel of the piece. Does this character like to read? Do they have a favorite flower or a favorite time of year? Are there any quotes or a special phrase that are meaningful? Is this going to be hung up in your living room and your color scheme is red and gold? We can take all that information to make things personal and special to each piece.
Generally, we start on the figure first. We will send you a sketch before we start making things more permeant so you can approve the direction we're going, and then we'll update you again once the colors are more laid in, and you'll have opportunities to suggest minor changes like their eyes are more green or their hair is too dark. Your background will be built around your commissioned character and is usually started once we're sure of what the main shape of the piece is going to look like. Once the background is complete, we like to get a final approval from our clients before we print and send off the final piece, just to make sure everything looks like what you were hoping for.
