The International Space Station is currently the largest space station Earth has ever created. Launched in 1998, the ISS has been an enormous collaborative project between five space agencies, including NASA (United States), Roscosmos (Russia), ESU (Europe), JAX (Japan) and CSA (Canada). The station itself can inhabit up to seven humans in low Earth orbit and it has been continuously occupied for almost 24 years, granting it the longest human presence in space to date. Over 200 people from over 20 different countries have visited the station to preform a variety of scientific, educational and diplomatic tasks.
The ISS orbits the Earth every 92.9 minutes and makes fifteen-and-a-half orbits in a single day.
